Book of Condolence for Martin McGuinness
A Book of Condolence has now been opened by the Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, at the Guildhall, in memory of the former Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, who passed away at the age of 66, on 21 March, at Altnagelvin Hospital, after a short illness.
Martin McGuinness was a leading figure in Northern Ireland politics and played a pivotal role in the peace process that led to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. Nine years later he entered power-sharing government with the DUP and continued to serve as Deputy First Minister until January 2017.
Members of the public who wish to pay tribute to Martin McGuinness are invited to record their thoughts in the space below where the message will be attached to the original Book of Condolence.
