The 10th annual Maths Week Ireland is an all island celebration of Mathematics, which will run from 10th to 18th October 2015. To celebrate this event we are providing a programme of activities and would like to invite you to join us at the following events.
Multi-talented maths educators from across Europe and the USA will demonstrate a different side of their skills set as they use magic, card tricks, and amazing mathematical predictions to fascinate and educate young people about maths.
The week seeks to promote a positive image of maths, highlighting its importance in everyday life where numbers are all around us. All events are free of charge and funded through Maths Week IE and DCSDC Science & Innovation Programme.
Saturday 10th October @ the Richmond Centre “Maths in the City” from 10am – 5pm
Solve the family fun maths trail in the Richmond Centre with the Curious Community Team, who will be facilitating engaging maths activities throughout the Richmond Centre including Minecraft by CultureTECH, Fab Lab, Lego Challenges by STEM Aware and also Maths Brain Training at CeX in Ferryquay Street.
Post Primary - Monday 12th October @ NWRC, Strand Road from 9.45am – 11.45am
Professor Colm Mulcahy father of mind-boggling card tricks and Professor of Mathematics at Spellman College in Atlanta Georgia will be taking Post Primary workshops. Another visitor from the USA is Carrie Chippetta and Jin Forde with European visitors from The Mathematics Museum of Catalona will also be taking part. These Maths specialists will also be visiting post primary schools through the week.
Family Fun Maths Night - Monday 12th October @ The Alley Theatre – 7.00pm
You are invited to a Family Fun Maths Night! An opportunity for families to take on the challenge of the talented maths educators. Come meet mathemagicians and world famous math performers and the chance to join in on fun math challenges!
Primary - Tuesday 13th October @ NWRC, Strand Road from 9.45am – 11.45am & 12.30pm – 2.30pm
Andrew Jeffrey, aka The Mathemagician, described as a mathematical evangelist. Author of several books, including ‘Be A Wizard With Numbers’, ‘Magic for Kids’, ‘100 Top Tips for Top Maths Teacher’, ‘Top 20 Maths Displays’, and the brand new ‘Cool, Calm and Calculators.’ Andrew will be presenting to Primary Schools
Community Maths Workshops
The latest engaging Maths Apps will be in action in the Digital Hubs and further Maths activities including Lego Challenges and games Pizza will be served for all those who have registered by 4.30pm

Through invite only you will have the opportunity to attend the opening of the new Maths Centre to be launched at North West Regional College.
