Start Date: 10 June 2018
End Date: 10 June 2018
You are invited to join PROCESSIONS, an ambitious UK-wide project to celebrate the centenary of women’s suffrage.
PROCESSIONS is a mass participation artwork taking place simultaneously across the UK’s four capitals. On Sunday 10th June, women and girls (including those who identify as woman and non-binary) in Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London will walk together to form a living portrait of women today.
Given cotton wraps in green, white or violet, the colours of the suffragettes, and choreographed into bands, together participants will appear as a flowing river of colour through the city streets. Inspired by the beautiful handmade banners of the Suffragists and Suffragettes, we’re encouraging everyone to create their own banners and flags for PROCESSIONS on Sunday 10th June. We want to fill the streets with colourful banners expressing the lives, ideas, hopes and concerns of women in the 21st century - including you.
Register to join us on Sunday 10th June at www.processions.co.uk
PROCESSIONS is produced by Artichoke - the team behind large-scale public art events including Lumiere and Temple - and commissioned by 14 -18 Now, the UK's arts programme for the First World War centenary.
