Mayor Hosts Special Reception Honouring Nollaig Ó Daimhín’s Contribution to the Irish Language

The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Ruairí McHugh, hosted a special civic reception in honour of Nollaig Ó Daimhín, recognising his longstanding dedication to the promotion of the Irish language, as well as traditional music and culture.
The event took place at the Guildhall on Wednesday, 22 April, where the Mayor welcomed Nollaig, alongside his family and friends, to the Mayor’s Parlour for the occasion.
Thanking him for all his hard work, Mayor McHugh expressed his appreciation for Nollaig’s unwavering commitment and passion, acknowledging the significant role he has played in fostering and promoting the Irish language across communities.
“Nollaig’s dedication to the Irish language and cultural heritage has made a lasting impact across our communities. His work continues to inspire others and strengthens the rich cultural identity of our district.”
Local councillors, Paul Boggs and Antaine Ó Fearghail, also attended the civic reception and offered their thanks and gratitude towards Nollaig and all his work.
