Bins and Recycling

Please use the links below to download printable versions of the Refuse Collection Schedule. To download the schedule please right click on the link and select the option "save link as" and proceed to save the file to your computer.

In the day of refuse collection you should wheel your bin to the edge of the kerb convenient to where the vehicle usually stops. Please leave the bin with the handles facing the road. This should be done as early as possible on the day of the collection and not later than 7.30 am.

The wheeled bin has sufficient capacity and this should mean that there should be no need for additional refuse in black bags to be placed with the bin during weekly collection. Do not deposit such materials as stones, concrete, trees, clays or car engines in the bin ( all of which have been found in wheeled bins recently), as these damage the mechanism of the collection vehicle. If you cannot easily move the bin it is unreasonable to expect the collector to do so.

If you experience any difficulty or problem with the service provided, you should contact us  on 028 7137 4107 to register your problem or complaint so that the appropriate action is taken.

Brown Bin Food Caddy

Important Information

Make sure your food waste caddy is out for collection by 7:30 am on your collection day and can be seen.
Tie your corn starch liner to keep your food waste caddy clean. Remember to keep good hygiene by washing.
If you need more starch liners leave a note for our collection staff or give us a call.

What happens to your food waste

Your food waste is taken to a special processing plant where it is recycled into compost which is used on farms and community gardens.

By recycling your food waste you will reduce the amount of food waste in landfill sites. Rotting food produces methane gas which contributes to climate change and, as the cost of sending food waste to landfill is increasing, you will help the council and its residents save money too.

Details of how to use the Caddies can be found on our brochure which can be downloaded from here
