Castlederg hosts special Burns celebration

A special event marking the traditional Scottish Burns Night took place this week in Castlederg.

The Not so Serious Burns event was organised by the Good Relations Team at Derry City and Strabane District Council in conjunction with Bready and District Ulster Scots Development Association.

A full morning of cultural entertainment featuring traditional Scottish music, poetry and drama was enjoyed by those in attendance, celebrating the many strong local Ulster Scots ties.

The event took place for the first time in Derg Valley Leisure Centre in Castlederg and was attended by Sperrin Carers, members of the Healthy Aging Network and local residents from Castlederg.

The audience all enjoyed a taste of some traditional Scottish fayre including neeps, tatties and haggis, as well as an appearance by Rabbie Burns himself.
