Commendation award for Guildhall
26 October 2015
The Guildhall has received a commendation in the Visitor and Interpretation Centre’s category of the Association for Heritage Interpretation’s prestigious AHI Discover Heritage Awards held in London at the weekend.
The annual awards are for excellence in cultural and natural heritage interpretation projects and initiatives across Britain and Ireland.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Elisha McCallion says she is delighted the Guildhall has been recognised at the awards and extended her congratulations to everyone involved in the project.
“It is fantastic that Derry’s Guildhall has received a commendation in these highly prestigious awards. It is a very deserving accolade for everyone involved in the project that demonstrates the work that went into the design and interpretation of the building.
“The AHI Discover Heritage Awards are the only UK and Irish awards to recognise excellence in all types and sizes of heritage interpretation whether held in museums, historic buildings, visitor centres or any type of outdoor location. It is great news for the Council that the Guildhall has been included as one of the many exciting heritage centres for visitors and communities to visit and enjoy,” she added.
