Council’s Irish Language services score high satisfaction rating with service users

Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Irish Language services have scored a high satisfaction rating in a survey conducted with the local Irish speaking community.
Council offer a range of services in Irish including written responses, application forms, publications, telephone queries and applications to have a street name erected in Irish.
Those surveyed were asked to score a number of aspects of the service, with 92% of users indicating they were happy or very happy with what was provided and 95% saying they would use the service again and would recommend it to others.
Irish Language Officer at Derry City and Strabane District Council, Erin Hamilton, thanked those who gave their feedback to the survey and welcomed the positive response it received.
“Council is committed to promoting the use of Irish both within the organisation and in the wider Council area,” she said.
“We want to guarantee equality of opportunity to those who wish to access information and services in the medium of Irish and we are delighted that our services users have expressed a high satisfaction rating.
“I would like to thank the Irish Language community locally for offering their feedback which we will use to enhance our service provision and make informed decisions about future initiatives.”
The full results of the survey were as follows: 92% of service users said that they were happy or very happy with the Council’s Irish Language services. 95% of those surveyed would use the services again. 95% of those surveyed would recommend the Irish language services to others. 68% of those surveyed prefer to receive information from the Council through email whilst a further 27% prefer to receive information through social media. 79% of people who have seen the website think that it is excellent or good and 85% of those surveyed who have seen the Facebook page think that the page is either excellent or good. 84% of those people surveyed received an email response from the Council within a reasonable timescale. 71% of those surveyed received a written response letter within a reasonable timescale.
