Council support for local business start-ups

05 January 2017

Derry City & Strabane District Council is working in partnership with Enterprise Northern Ireland, Enterprise North West and Strabane Enterprise Agency to provide local people with the support and advice needed to set up their own business.

Go For It offers free advice and mentoring to people in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area who are considering self-employment or are interested in setting up their own business but don’t know where to start or how to take their ideas and plans forward.

Go For It provides a range of expert guidance and mentoring to help individuals create a business plan, with market research and financial forecasts.

Louise Breslin, Programme Manager with Derry City and Strabane District Council, says Go For It is a fantastic one-stop shop for anyone in the Council area looking for business support and advice.

“We are delighted to be working in collaboration with Enterprise Northern Ireland, Enterprise North West and the Strabane Enterprise Agency to deliver on a programme that will really help the public develop their business plan. With our help and support we will be able to assist in driving forward those business plans and providing the information and advice to successfully get the businesses off the ground,” she said.

Gordon Gough of Enterprise Northern Ireland says the programme is tailored to offer the essential support that is needed to help bring business plans from the development stage to implementation.

“Through Go For It we will provide one-to-one assessment meetings with a dedicated business advisor and offer financial and business planning support through a series of workshops. We will also provide support and advice on how to develop your business plan as well as provide assistance on accessing funding and finance. The programme also allows us to use a range of specific tools and videos using our best practice guide, to ensure individuals are getting the most out of their business plan.”
