Council team up with Women in Enterprise to host EW2021 events

09 April 2021

Women in Enterprise, the professional network for women in business in the Derry/Londonderry area, have been announced as a partner organisation for this year’s Enterprise Week.

The non-profit organisation, who seek to encourage and empower women in business, will host three key events as part of the week long virtual programme which runs from Monday April 19th to Friday April 23rd.

Their participation is in keeping with their commitment to signpost women to relevant business support services and organise relevant business support seminars including networking, educational, and workshop events.

On day one they will host a networking conference entitled Overcoming Covid as well as a Linkedin Masterclass by social media specialist Sharon Murray.
On the final day they will host a Human Resources seminar on the final day featuring top tips on surviving a pandemic.

Louise Breslin, Business Development Manager at DCSDC, said the event organisers were delighted to be working with Women in Enterprise on this year’s programme.

“In recent years the programme for Enterprise Week has celebrated the outstanding contribution that women make in our business community,” she explained.

“In 2018 and 2019 we hosted the Derry Girls networking event to celebrate International Women’s Day which attracted over 200 attendees and were a great opportunity for women working at all levels and across all sectors to connect.

“While it is not possible to meet physically this year, the events being organised by Women in Enterprise are a great opportunity for people to learn new skills and share ideas in a virtual setting.”

The Overcoming Covid networking event on Monday April 19th from 11am – 12.30pm will examine how many small businesses have flourished despite the restrictions with presentations from Joanne Doherty from Piece Makers, Keith Donaghy from Food Serve App and Devine Scents proprietor Jenna Devine.

Later that day from 1.30pm – 3pm, social media specialist Sharon Murray hosts The Linkedin Revolutionary where she will impart some of the secrets of building an effective profile on the platform.

Sharon will outline five key steps to convert your Linkedin account into a virtual sales office.

On Friday at 11am HR Top Tips on Surviving a Pandemic will be presented by Cathy Moran and Julie Pollock which will reveal tips for success in recruiting during a global and local downturn and how to overcome the struggles of managing staff during a pandemic.

Whether self-employed or employed by someone else, enterprising or entrepreneurial their supportive network encourages and empowers women in business and into business.

Enterprise Week 2021 will be held from Monday April 19th to Friday April 23rd and will offer expert support in building business resilience and how to tailor operations and services to meet the unprecedented challenges that the expected reopening of full trading will bring.

Among the highlights in the five day programme are three Full Circle hosted workshops on Business Resilience, Social Media and Online Advertising.

A two day blended digital and live event powered by Startacus entitled Level Up 2021 will seek to inspire post pandemic ideas and spark creativity by exploring how people, both locally and internationally, have innovated and created economic growth and initiated real change.
