Crowds turn out in force as Strabane St Patrick's Day parade returns
18 March 2022
Strabane was a hive of activity on St Patrick's Day as the town's parade made a welcome return after a three year hiatus.
Derry City and Strabane District Council, in partnership with local community groups, hosted the event where hundreds of performers took part alongside a comprehensive programme of music, drama and entertainment in the town.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Graham Warke, congratulated all those involved in making the event a day to remember.
"St Patrick's Day is one of the biggest celebrations of the year in Strabane and I'm delighted that thousands of people were able to come out to sample the sights and sounds of the parade and entertainment.
"The festivities are a real community effort with local businesses and organisations working with Council's Festival and Events team to bring the public a diverse programme that appealed to all ages.
"This was the town's first parade for three years and I hope it marks the start of brighter days for all of us as we head into Spring."
The festivities finished off with the Strabane Drama Festival's hilarious comedy Dramateurs, presented by Letterkenny Music and Drama Society.
