Derry City and Strabane District Council does Strictly for Mayor's Charity

22 October 2018

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor John Boyle, has thanked everyone involved in Saturday night’s successful Strictly Come Dancing event at the City Hotel.

Niall Gallagher and Ellie Ward were the overall winners as eight couples featuring Council staff took park with all the proceeds going to the Mayor’s chosen charity for the year Foyle Search and Rescue.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part on Saturday night as Derry City and Strabane District Council did Strictly in style,” said Mayor Boyle.

“A huge amount of organising and preparation goes into an event like this and I would like to particularly acknowledge Danielle Fitzpatrick and Brenda Bradley for organising the event, Stephen Carlin for the outstanding choreography, all the judges, the Foyle Search and Rescue Volunteers and of course the dancers themselves for their outstanding performances on the night.

“The funds raised will help Foyle Search and Rescue to continue to do their selfless work in protecting lives and making our city a safer place.”
