Derry and Strabane sports clubs urged to contribute to online survey
10 December 2020
Sports clubs in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area are being encouraged to take part in an online survey to assist Council's Sports Development team to tailor their service and programmes to meet user needs.
The Sports Club Survey aims to provide a greater understanding of the sporting landscape in the Council area, sporting organisation needs and the support required.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Brian Tierney, encouraged local sports clubs to get involved.
"I would urge local sports clubs of all levels and disciplines to take the time to complete this short online survey," he said. "It is an opportunity to have your say on the needs of your club and for Council's Sports Development team to make informed decisions about the content of future programmes.
"The questionnaire includes an additional comments section where clubs can add in needs specific to them and I would encourage them to give as much detail as possible so that their needs can be met.
"This year has been a challenging time for the Sports Development team as they have sought to deliver their service within the constraints of the government guidelines and I would like to commend their imagination and adaptability in tailoring their service accordingly."
During the restrictions to reduce the spread of Covid 19, Council's popular Everybody Active Programme has been delivering a range of activities to suit all ages and abilities while adhering to government guidelines.
The Sports Development team have worked with partners to tailor the Macmillan Move More and PARS programmes within the restrictions.
