Energy of Light Disco returns to the Alley
08 August 2019
The Energy of Light Disco with resident DJ Oliver Brown is back at the Alley Theatre on Thursday 22nd August from 1pm – 3pm.
The discos are tailored to suit adults who have limited physical, learning and sensory ability, bringing awareness of the benefits and importance of social activities for families and individuals experiencing disabilities.
Jacqueline Doherty, Venue Manager at the Alley Theatre, explained the ethos of the event: “The Energy of Light Discos are for adults who are experiencing limited physical, sensory and or learning ability.
“DJ Oliver will have you have you dancing to a range of music including pop, country and the very best of dance hits.
“At the Alley Theatre we provide a safe, friendly and accessible venue with disability aware staff and Oliver provides some great music to suit all tastes.”
Oliver, who himself has a physical disability that includes poor eyesight and balance, says the discos, which are tailored for young people and adults aged 15 and over, are ‘so special’ for people with limited physical, learning and sensory ability.
It is clearly evident to see that the discos are a great social outlet – a place to meet friends and for carers to talk to one another and have some fun too.
So come along and enjoy the music, dance and have fun.
Tickets are £3 and Carers and Parents Go Free.
The Energy of Light disco is funded by the Public Health Agency and forms part of a wider programme of inclusion being rolled out by Derry City and Strabane District Council.
Tickets can be purchased through the Alley Theatre Box Office on 028 71 384444 or online www.alley-theatre.com.
