Fresh from London Fashion Week – Lynsey joins fashion elite for Guildhall Fashion Fest 2016

04 October 2016

A young Strabane woman is taking the fashion world by storm having showcased for a second season and sold out her accessories line at London Fashion Week in September.

Twenty five year old Lynsey McGarrigle is now bringing her collection, ‘Signature By Haus Of MoHawk’ to a local audience at Derry and Strabane District Council’s Fashion Fest Fashion Show in November.

An only child to parents Annette and Peter McGarrigle, Lynsey has been involved in the fashion industry from a young age working in retail, modelling and taking part in beauty pageants. She also was Miss Tyrone in 2011, Miss United Nations Ireland in 2011 and Miss United Nations Europe in 2011.

She successfully set up her own fashion brand after graduating from college in 2012, titled the Haus Of MoHawk. Her previous collections were mainly ladies occasional wear more recently she has delved into menswear and accessories and having won numerous awards and dressed a number of high profile clients in Northern Ireland and throughout Europe. Now she’s set her sights on the high street, with meetings lined up with both Topshop and Selfridges.

As she prepares to bring her collections to Guildhall next month Lynsey spoke about her success and her most recent collection, which she’ll be displaying on the runway during Fashion Fest. ‘This will be my third year taking part in Fashion Fest. It is a fantastic event and a great platform which showcases inspiring and innovative designers.

‘I developed a love of art and creativity at a very young age and after completing a foundation degree in art and design and a HND in Fashion and Textiles Design at North West Regional College I went on to develop the Haus Of MoHawk brand.

‘At times it has been an up-hill battle of determination, financial difficulties, self-doubt and perseverance against all odds because the dream is too much to give up. I had great support from my mother and father and the love of a very understanding boyfriend and close group of friends who have support my dreams, the long hours and little time off to build what I hope to be an internationally acclaimed fashion brand with strong roots within Northern Ireland.

‘I’m someone who does not believe in luck, I believe in creating my own destiny. By keeping focused on the end goal I will be enough of a reckoning force to achieve my aspirations. To date the brand has been sold and featured in Australia, Canada, America, Asia and Europe in a variety of media publications, music videos, fashion shows, television and radio stations.

‘My new collection, ‘Signature By Haus Of MoHawk’ can be seen at Fashion Fest’s Fashion Show in the Guildhall on Saturday 19th November. This collection usurps all that I am as an individual, as a designer and what the Haus Of MoHawk has to offer as a fashion brand but still promotes the design ethos ‘Always Dare To Be Different’. I’m looking forward to showing my collection to my home audience alongside the other Irish designers confirmed for the event.’

Lynsey’s Haus Of MoHawk collection will feature in the Fashion Fest Fashion Show at the Guildhall on Saturday 19th November. Tickets are now available, entry is free of charge however places are limited and attendance must be registered by emailing [email protected]

The Fashion Fest programme will run from the 18th until the 20th of November and will feature special offers, live fashion events and in-store activities, not to be missed by fashion lovers. More information can be found at www.derrystrabane.com/fashionfest.
