Health and Safety Advice for Hair and Beauty Sector
10 March 2016
Derry City and Strabane District Council is hosting a half-day conference next week in partnership with the North West Regional College on Managing Health and Safety for those working in the health and beauty sector.
The conference will be held at Level 4 of the Foyle Building at the North West Regional College’s Strand Road Campus from 11.00 am to 1pm on Monday 14 March.
Paul Rafferty from Derry City and Strabane District Council says the conference is an ideal opportunity for employers from the Hair and Beauty sector to receive the latest, tailored advice on how to protect the health and safety of their staff and clients.
“While hairdressing and beauty salons are not the most obviously dangerous environments, there are hazards present, such as those associated with awkward working postures and the various chemicals used, which if not managed properly could result in costly injuries and ill health to staff and customers. We want to support our local, small business employers by providing them with straightforward health and safety advice and information that will assist them in protecting both their business and their profits,” he said.
A spokesperson for North West Regional College added, “As the leading provider of education and training for the Health & Beauty industry in the North West, we are delighted to be working with the Council to ensure that businesses, and those training for employment within the industry, have access to the information and support they need to operate safely.”
All attendees will be provided with a free information pack containing key health and safety guidance along with a Certificate of Attendance. Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to reserve a place in advance by contacting Siobhan Doherty on Tel. 028 71376558 or sending an e-mail to [email protected].
