Ireland NW sales pitch included in Philadelphia Irish Week
15 March 2021
The Ireland North West region will participate in a unique online event on St Patrick’s Day as part of Philadelphia Irish Week, showcasing Irish companies that have expanded into the US Marketplace and promoting foreign direct investment opportunities for American companies that are interested in entering Ireland.
Derry & Strabane and Donegal will deliver a presentation promoting the Ireland NW investment opportunities. The success stories of local companies will be included as part of the event that is organised by Philadelphia based soft landing platform Littus in association with the Irish American Business Chamber and Network.
Traditionally Littus holds an event each year in Philadelphia spotlighting in, all island terms, Irish companies that have expanded into the USA Marketplace and also FDI opportunities for American companies to enter Ireland. However this year, due to the pandemic the event is a four-hour webinar looking at a series of themes and topics.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council Cllr Brian Tierney welcomed the opportunity to present the cross-border city region’s proposition at their virtual Philadelphia Transatlantic Showcase to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.
He said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Donegal County Council to present the Ireland Northwest offering at the Philadelphia Ireland St Patrick’s Day event. It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the region to businesses and service providers in the United States who are interested in foreign direct investment opportunities in Ireland.”
“While it is disappointing that we haven’t been able to travel to the US this year to showcase our region and sell the benefits of investing here, we have been working very proactively to build on our relationships and contacts in the United States, including Philadelphia, despite the pandemic we are hopeful we can return in the near future.”
The event will be attended by the Mayor of Philadelphia James Kenney and by the Irish Ambassador to the USA, His Excellency Daniel Mulhall and will also feature the Director of the Northern Ireland Bureau, Andrew Elliott.
