Issued on behalf of the Derry and Strabane PCSP

06 April 2022

The Chair of the Derry and Strabane Policing and Community Safety Partnership Alderman Maurice Devenney has condemned yesterday’s shooting of a man in the Creggan area of the city.

Speaking on the shooting Alderman Devenney stated:

"Attacks like these are not acceptable in our society and must be condemned by all of us. The people of this city are shocked and disgusted at these continued incidents. There can be absolutely no justification for these shootings. It is clear that those responsible have absolutely no concern for people living in Creggan nor do they represent the interests of the people living there. My thoughts are with the victim and with the people living in the area who have had to endure this. I would urge anyone with information on this vicious attack to contact the PSNI or Crimestoppers immediately.”
