Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council Cllr Elisha McCallion has condemned those responsible for the overnight attacks on cars belonging to elected members Cllrs Colly Kelly and Sandra Duffy.
Describing the incidents as an attack on local democracy, the Mayor said these type of actions would not deter the councillors from the good work they are doing to represent their constituents in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area.
"These attacks were frightening for those involved. Both councillors have young children and it has been a very traumatic experience for them and their families. The community however have been very supportive in their response to the attacks and the councillors are determined that they will not let it have an impact on the work they are doing for the people of this city and district,” she commented
