10 August 2018
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr John Boyle has launched the 2018 /19 ‘Mayor’s Tea Dance Initiative’ at the Guildhall today – and has provided details of the ‘hugely popular’ series of events to be hosted during his term in office.
The 2018 /19 tea dances, apart from two, will now take place on a Tuesday every month – beginning on 4 September 2018. All will be held in the Guildhall from 2pm to 4pm.
The 2018 dates for the tea dances are as follows: Tuesday 4 September, Tuesday 2 October, Wednesday 7 November, Wednesday 5 December and a special ‘Mayor’s Christmas Tea Dance’ on Tuesday 18 December 2018.
The 2019 dates are Tuesday 8 January, 5 February, 5 March, 2 April and 7 May.
Mayor Boyle said: “I’m delighted to launch the dates for the 2018 /19 tea dances.
“These are such popular events – packed with some of the best dancers in town!
“The tea dances also provide a great opportunity for me to enjoy some time with older members of the community.
“Indeed, I hosted my first tea dance recently and really enjoyed the craic with the regular dancers.
“I was also amazed by their energy and sense of fun – which is such an inspiration to all!
“I have no doubts that we’ll see a fantastic turnout for all of the tea dances during my term in office – and that they’ll be hugely enjoyable events for all who attend.”
