Mayor meets with Honourable Irish Society members

12 October 2021
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Graham Warke, met with members of The Honourable Irish Society on Monday during their visit to the city.
Mayor Warke and council officials met with the delegation in the Guildhall to discuss key projects and progress on the City Deal, as well as regional strengths and the region's growing fintech cluster, and plans for Ebrington and Fort George.
During the visit, which was hosted by the Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, the group also visited C-TRIC, the new Visit Derry Visitor Information Centre, and North West Regional College's Springtown Campus.
Mayor Warke said: "It was a pleasure to welcome the Society Deputy Governor Wendy Hyde, Trustees Henry Pollard, Vivienne Littlechild MBE JP, Edward Lord OBE JP, Jeremy Simmons OBE, and Secretary Edward Montgomery to the Guildhall.
"It's vitally important that we continue to strengthen the unique relationship that our city and district has with The Irish Society and the City of London, and I was delighted to discuss many of the exciting projects and opportunities that are developing within this region.
"I thanked the members for the excellent work that The Irish Society does for our city and district and look forward to continuing our close relationship in the months and years ahead."
