Mayor thanks local company for sanitiser donation

19 June 2020
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council Brian Tierney has thanked local company Superior E-Liquid for their donation of six standing sanitiser units, complete with sanitising gel.
The company, who manufacture and distribute e-liquids across the UK, Ireland and the whole of Europe, welcomed the Mayor to their main office in Elagh Business Park on Thursday where company director Stephen Ryan Jr made the donation.

The sanitising units and gel were then donated by the Mayor to six community organisations on Friday, including: Greater Shantallow Area Partnership, Strabane Health & Improvement Centre, Creggan Old Library Trust, Irish Street Community Centre, Derg Valley Care Offices and Pennyburn Youth Club.

Mayor Tierney thanked Stephen and his team for their kind generosity and said it will greatly benefit the local community.
"I want to offer my sincere thanks to Stephen and everyone at Superior E-Liquid for this donation of six sanitising units with sanitising gel.

"At a time when businesses are facing pressures of their own, the fact that they have taken time out to do what they can to help their own community is really telling of their generosity.
"I know that the six organisations who have each received a unit are also incredibly thankful, and they will prove invaluable in keeping people safe and healthy as we continue to move through the phases of recovery.

"This is yet another wonderful example of local companies and people working together for the greater of our society.
"Again, thanks to Stephen and his staff for their thoughtfulness and I wish them well for the weeks and months ahead."
Stephen Ryan, Director of Superior E-Liquid, said it was important to the company to give something back.

"These are unusual times for us in terms of adapting the way that we work and not being able to interact with our customers in the normal fashion.
"We have been inspired by the work that the community sector has been doing to help local people in the past few months, and we wanted to do something to play our own role and assist in making their jobs a bit easier.

"Helping out as much as we can has been a big focus for us, so we have also been producing our gel 'Stay Safe Hand Sanitiser' product which is on sale in most supermarkets in the Derry and Strabane area for half the current market price of most other products at £1.50.

"We have also launched a Back to School Safety Program offering all the schools in Northern Ireland a discounted 'Stay Safe' pack consisting of mobile sanitising stations and desk dispensers for the classroom, complete with pharma grade sanitizing hand gel.

"I'd like to thank the Mayor for his co-operation, and I hope that the units and gels will prove beneficial to those organisations and the people across Derry and Strabane."
