Mayor to host special ‘Vintage Tea Dance’ at the Alley Theatre

08 January 2018

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Maolíosa McHugh, will host a special ‘Vintage Tea Dance’ from 2pm to 4pm at the Alley Theatre in Strabane on Saturday 20th January.

This is the first time that one of the Mayor’s tea dances – which are popular ‘free’ events in Derry – will be held outside of the city in a bid to encourage older people throughout the district to attend.

Mayor McHugh said: “All of the tea dances which I have hosted during my term in office have been such popular events.

“They also provide me with a great opportunity to enjoy time with some older members of our community.

“Indeed, I am always amazed at their energy and sense of fun – which is an inspiration to all!

“I am therefore delighted to be hosting the first ever Mayor’s tea dance outside of the city – where I am really looking forward to meeting up with older members of the local community in Strabane.

“I have no doubts that the Vintage Tea Dance will be a hugely enjoyable experience – and that we’ll see a fantastic turnout for what I hope will be the first of many for the Alley Theatre.”

Music at the Vintage Tea Dance will be by ‘The 3 J’s’ and refreshments will also be provided.

Tickets for the special tea dance are free and can be booked through the Alley Box Office on 028 71 384444 or online www.alley-theatre.com

A free bus from Derry to the Alley Theatre on Saturday 20th January is also being provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. To book a place on the free bus please contact Karen Henderson on 02871376527 or email [email protected]
