PCSP chair condemns Galliagh attack
30 September 2019
The Chair of the Derry and Strabane Policing and Community Safety Partnership Councillor Sandra Duffy has condemned the recent attack on a woman in the Galliagh area of the city.
Speaking on the vicious assault Councillor Duffy stated: "Attacks like these are not acceptable in our society and must be condemned by all of us. As an elected representative for this area, I know that people are horrified and angry at this most recent attack. This brutal assault has no place in our city that is trying to move forward.
“It is clear that the criminal gangs responsible for this latest attack have absolutely no concern for people living here and their only wish is to try to exert some sort of coercive control over these areas. No-one has the right to violate the human rights of any individual in this city or anywhere.”
She added: ““The fact that three young children were in the house while the woman was being battered and her home ransacked shows these people up for what they really are. My thoughts are with the victim of this horrific attack and I would urge anyone with information on this vicious assault to contact the PSNI or Crimestoppers immediately.”
