Physical activity and sport feedback sought through online workshops and surveys
11 January 2022
Derry City and Strabane District Council are hosting a series of online workshops as part of the public consultation process on the five year plan for delivery of sport and recreation initiatives.
The Physical Activity, Wellbeing and Sport Strategy for 2022 – 2027 will detail how Council will deliver and enable others to deliver a range of activities and services to achieve the objectives outlined in the district's Inclusive Strategic Growth Plan 2017 – 2032.
The strategy aims to identify, nurture and develop opportunities for improving health and wellbeing and increasing participation in sport to meet the vision identified in the SGP to create a 'thriving, prosperous and sustainable City and District with equality of opportunity for all'.
A Community, Providers and Education survey has been designed to gain feedback on current services and to identify the future needs of these user groups.
The six online workshops will take place from Monday January 17th until Monday January 24th and Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Alderman Graham Warke, encouraged the user groups to get involved so future strategy can be tailored to meet their needs.
"The online workshops and surveys are part of a wider consultation exercise for our Physical Activity, Wellbeing and Sport Strategy," he explained.
"By taking part in the workshops with Council Officers and completing the relevant survey for you or your organisation, it will get you thinking about the importance of being active and how active you are at the moment.
"The information you give us will help in preparing the strategy and in creating a picture of current activities and programmes to help in preparing the strategy.
"If you complete the survey you will be entered into a competition to win some great prizes for you and your organisation so I'd encourage you to get involved now," he added.
Those who complete the Community Survey are in with a chance to win one of three All Inclusive Leisure Memberships while the Providers and Education Surveys both offer the chance to win one of three sports equipment packs worth £100 for your organisation or school.
