Planning Services to relocate to Council buildings

02 June 2016

Planning Services in Derry City and Strabane District Council are to officially relocate in the coming weeks from the Orchard House building to the Council offices in Derry and Strabane.

Planning functions will now be fully operational in Strand Road, Derry from Wednesday 15th June 2016. The Planning Clinic will remain available in the Derry Road offices in Strabane every Wednesday from 9.30am-4.30pm.

There will be no changes during the relocation and members of the public are advised that all services will continue to operate as normal. Opening hours for the services available to the public will remain from 9.30am-4.30pm from Monday to Friday.

Speaking ahead of the move Karen Phillips, Director of Environment and Regeneration at Derry City and Strabane District Council, said the move would mark another significant milestone for the new Council. “Planning reform’s primary objective is to improve the planning system locally and also to make the process easier and more accessible for anyone with an interest in planning related matters,” she stressed.

“By relocating to our civic buildings in both the City and District we believe this move reflects a more straightforward approach and will help ensure that our services are open to everyone.”

Members of the public are advised that anyone with specific planning related queries should contact 0300 200 7830 or email [email protected] for further information.
