07 January 2021
An application for Building 10a at Ebrington Square to be changed to Class 2A offices was approved by members of Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Planning Committee who attended a virtual Reconvened meeting of the committee this afternoon.

The full planning application included the change of use from the guardhouse and jail to offices with a ramp, steps and planter to the front entrance of the building.

Members of the committee also heard details of a listing building consent application that included details of the change of use to an office and refurbishment works to include fitting of new ceilings, provision of ramp and steps to front entrance and laying paving slabs to front of building.

Planning Committee Chairman Cllr Christopher Jackson welcomed the proposal and the creation of new office space at Ebrington. He said the proposal was important in enhancing and regenerating the building that forms part of the cluster of landmark buildings at Ebrington and that are significant to our built heritage.

He said: “Council is very pleased to play its part in the delivery of new office space developments that will service our business community across the city and district. In keeping with our Inclusive Strategic Growth Plan, the development and regeneration of Ebrington will help transform this important site.”
