Sion Mills Play Provision Engagement

06 February 2019

Derry City and Strabane District Council is urging the public to have their say on the future play park that is being proposed for the Co Tyrone village of Sion Mills.

In an effort to gauge public opinion and get feedback from local users, the Council has organised a community engagement event to take place next Tuesday 12th February in Sion Mills Primary School, from 5-8pm.

The community engagement event is an important way of gauging public opinion and get feedback from the local community on how they want to see the new play park developed

Council’s Parks Development Manager Helen Turton, encouraging the public to take part in the engagement event said: “We are really keen to hear the views of local people on where they want a new play facility that will benefit everyone in Sion Mills village. As future users of a new play park, it is important to take on board the views of the community before progressing this project further.

“As a Council, we understand the importance of outdoor play for children and we have invested a lot in play parks and facilities throughout our District over the last few years. We hope that this initiative in Sion Mills will enhance our play offering further and we urge anyone with young children or an interest in this issue to drop into Sion Mills Primary School on Tuesday evening or email me directly at [email protected].”

The community engagement event will take place from 5pm-8pm on Tuesday 12 February at Sion Mills PS; alternatively, you can submit your feedback online by visiting www.derrystrabane.com/parks
