Spring arts & crafts at the Alley

28 February 2019

Are you looking to developing your artistic side this Spring?

Derry City and Strabane District Council have an on-going programme of arts & craft activities for adults and children alike at the Alley Theatre in the run up to Easter.

The arts & crafts courses are aimed at encouraging adults and children to experiment in new mediums without having to purchase lots of tools or materials.

Workshops by artists Sheila Byrne (Morrison) and Marina Hamilton have already been successfully delivered – in which they have offered their skills and expertise in their specialism of Fine Art painting and pastels.  Due to the large expression of interest in the ‘Landscape Painting’ earlier this year, additional courses have been added to the programme in March. Early booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment!

If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, ceramic workshops with Leona Devine will be right up your street! Immerse yourself in this therapeutic craft – as you mould the clay to create your own personalised 8-inch planter in a style of your preference – either glazed or unglazed. For children, Leona is also offering a pot-making workshop as part of the Easter programme.

If you’d prefer the magic of hand-crafted glass, then Natasha Duddy is offering a morning workshop on jewellery-making to create your own stunning earrings / neckpieces or an afternoon course suitable for adults and young people creating glass pictures.

There are also a host of activities for children and young people to do over the Easter holiday week – including Easter Saturday craft workshops and later in the week Stem Aware will offer Minecraft workshops and a Science Show on Thursday 25th April.
