Strabane Halloween celebrations set for spooktacular climax

Strabane’s Halloween celebrations will climax this Thursday with a number of family activities planned for around the town finishing with the crescendo of the Circle of Terror and Spooktacular Fireworks display at the Melvin Sports Complex running track.
The Alley Theatre has been transformed into a haunted Halloween hub once again this year with plenty of activities taking place including a Slime Party, Face Painting, Bewitching Tales and Scary Street Performers from 12pm – 4pm.
On Halloween night Melvin Sports Complex Running Track will be overrun with ghosts, ghouls and scarecrows all set for the Circle of Terror if you dare to join them.
Local groups involved on the night are the Class Act Theatre Group, Much Ado Stage School, Tyrone Scouts, Strabane Health Improvement Project, New Horizons, Local Businesses, Trad for Youth, Kyle Devine and The Groovy Band.
There will be plenty of other fiendish fun with face painting, animation, live music and fire show.
The evening will finish up with a spooktacular fireworks extravaganza at the running track.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District, Councillor Michaela Boyle, said this year’s programme featured something for all ages to enjoy.
“I’m delighted to see some great additions to the Halloween programme this year, including the Ring of Terror at Melvin Sports Complex Running Track, and to see that the event has captured the imagination of lots of local businesses and community organisations.
“The programme is a real mix of family fun and animation, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone out enjoying the celebrations. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing the new additions to the hay trail after last’s year’s brilliant display.”
This year the Hay Sculpture Trail has featured some shocking new surprises out and about at locations throughout the District.
Come down and see the amazing lanterns produced by local schools Holy Cross College, Strabane Academy, Donemana PS, Gáelscoil, St Mary’s PS Strabane, Artigarvan PS, Bready PS and Knockavoe School
or visit the trail that has been developed with local groups the Castlederg Young Farmers Club, Tyrone Scouts, The Alley Theatre Youth Forum, Craic Youth, New Horizons, Northwest Regional College Strabane, Cummings Bros & Brighter Ballymagorry Community Group Fulton’s Pumpkin Patch, Barntop Fun Farm, Sollus Centre.
The best viewing of the fireworks is at the Melvin Running Track and parking is available in the town centre only.
