Time running out for young people to apply for ‘Change Something’ grants

02 November 2018

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr John Boyle is encouraging young people aged 13-24 to ‘Make.Change.Happen’ in their local community by applying for grants of £200 - £3,000 from the new ‘Change Something Fund’.

‘Change Something’ activities can be any project or initiative that is important to you and will make a difference in your local community!

The new £100,000 ‘Change Something’ initiative is funded by Council in partnership with the Big Lottery Fund in the run up to ‘Youth 19’ – and is being delivered by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland's Acorn Fund.

The first open call for applications to the ‘Change Something Fund’ was launched in mid-October – and the deadline of 7th November 2018 is fast approaching!

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr John Boyle said: “I would encourage young people throughout the City and District to apply for grants to the new Change Something Fund before the deadline of 5pm on 7th November!

“This really is a fantastic initiative which allows young people to take a lead role in bringing positive change to their community.

“It offers a chance to create special projects and activities which will sit alongside a programme of Youth 19 events which will have the priorities, needs and rights of young people at their core.

“Indeed, the fund will not only allow our young people to be the change they want to see in their communities, but also to take ownership of Youth 19 by turning imaginative proposals into reality!”
