Two Shows – One Great Day Out for Kids at the Alley Theatre
28 September 2018
The Alley Theatre has a bumper day of kids performances on Sunday 14th October as Barking Dog Theatre Company brings ‘Teddy’s Seaside Holiday’ and ‘The Secret Garden’ for an afternoon of fun, song and story.
Starting at 2pm, Teddy’s Seaside Holiday is suitable for audiences under 6 - Eddy The Teddy is getting very excited because he's going off on holiday to the seaside with his best friend Sammy Ragdoll, Sammy is hoping to have a nice relaxing time but with Eddy the Teddy, an adventure is never far away. Sammy decides that a sleep on the beach in the sun is the best way to spend the first day. When Eddy soon gets bored and wanders off, everyone knows he's going to get into a fix. He meets many interesting and wonderful characters during his adventure and he needs their help (and children in the audience) if he is to get back to Sammy safely.
The show uses many elements of theatre, mime, puppetry and songs to join in with. It's a perfect introduction to live entertainment for children who've never been to a show before, and a welcome return for Eddy the Teddy's young fans. Age recommendation - 2-6 years old but all welcome
Next at 3.30pm is the classic story of ‘The Secret Garden’. Ten-year-old Mary has to leave India, where she grew up, to live with her uncle in Yorkshire after her parents die. At first she is self-centred, selfish and aloof but soon she starts making her first ever friends among the servants at Misselthwaite Manor. She learns of a secret walled garden and is determined to find it. She also wants to find out why there is the mysterious sound of a boy crying in the night…Age recommendation - 5-9 years old but all welcome
