Revised Fee Structure for Pavement Cafe Licence Applications

Under Section 12 of the Licensing of Pavement Cafes Act (Northern Ireland) 2014, Council may charge fees to enable it to offset the cost of administering the pavement cafés licensing scheme, in relation to the grant, renewal or variation of a licence.

However, before determining or altering any fees, the law requires Council to publicise the fees it intends to charge and to make available the details of how these were calculated; and Council must take into consideration any representations received, within the permitted consultation period, before making a decision on the fees.

The fees for pavement café licences were originally determined in 2017 and since 2020 the fees have been waived to support businesses during the pandemic. However, Council is now minded to introduce a revised fee structure for applications in respect of the granting, renewal and variation of pavement cafe licences and it is proposed that these revised fees would come into effect from 1st October 2022.

The proposed fees, together with a statement showing how they have been calculated, are detailed below.

Representations must be received by 5pm on Friday 5 August 2022 otherwise they will not be considered.
