Community Planning is a significant and exciting new statutory power which has been handed to Derry City and Strabane District Council as a result of local government reform.
The development of the Community Plan was officially launched on Thursday 4th June 2015 across the entire Council district. Since then thousands of local people have engaged with the process of developing an exciting and ambitious new strategic plan which will shape the future of Derry and Strabane to the benefit of all.
The video of the launch is available to view below (please skip to 5mins 44secs to start viewing).
At the heart of the Community Planning process is the commitment to enhancing the delivery of public services to ensure we are improving the well-being of all our citizens, and the plan will set out to address the specific needs of the city and district as identified by the people who live here.
Having completed an extensive 16-week public consultation, we are now in the process of refining the draft plan to include the feedback of our partners and citizens. We anticipate that this process will be completed in the coming weeks and the final plan will be published by mid-November.
We look forward to revealing this exciting blueprint for the future which has the capacity to accelerate the social, economic and environmental prospects of our City, our District and the wider Region.
