Road Closures and Traffic Disruptions
To ensure the safety of both runners and motorists it will be necessary to introduce temporary traffic restrictions for a short time. These have been carefully selected in consultation with PSNI, GardaΓ and Department of Infrastructure and Roads, to minimise delay and inconvenience for residents and traffic.
π§ Meetinghouse Street/ Railway Street/ Canal Street/ Dock Street/ Bridge Street
Road Closure in place 7:00am – 10:30am diversions in place on Patrick Street/ Springhill Park.
π§ Derry Road
A5 bound single lane closure, town centre bound traffic as normal (8:00am – 10:30am)
π§β Barnhill A5 Road
Single lane closure for Lifford bound traffic, Derry bound traffic as normal. (8:00am- 10:30am)
π§ Lifford Road A38 - Asda Roundabout - Three Coins Roundabout
Single lane road closure Lifford bound (8:00am – 11:00am), Strabane/ Derry bound traffic no right turn only.
π§ N15 Sligo Road
Single lane closure (8:00am – 11:30) affecting Castlefinn bound traffic. Castlefinn to Lifford bound lane will be opened with no right turn only. Access/ Egress points coming off the N15 will be right turn only.
π§ Clady Bridge
Road closure will be in place on Clady Bridge, road users will be diverted via Castlefinn (08:00am – 11:30am)
π§ Urney Road
Single lane closure for Clady to Strabane bound Traffic, diversions in place by passing Clady bridge via Castlefinn (08:00am – 12:00noon)
π§β Great Northern Link
Road users should be aware that runners will be using the foot/ cycle path along the Great Northern Link
π§β Melmount Road
Single lane closure for town centre bound traffic on Melmount Road (08.00am – 12:45pm) Junctions leading off/onto Melmount Road will be right turn only, diversions will be sign posted.
π§β Ballycolman Road/ Estate
Single lane closure will in place and traffic will be restricted to right turn only (8:00am – 01:00pm)
Please note this information is based on data obtained from previous Half Marathon times and could be subject to change due to unforeseeable circumstances. PSNI, Gardai and Race Marshals will be in place to help minimise disruption.
Access / egress for residents and businesses needing to cross lanes to exit / enter their homes / premises will be restricted for the duration of the lane closure. Event Organisers will have controls in place to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum and lanes / roads affected are reopened as soon as deemed safe to do so by event organisers after the majority of runners have passed.
