3. Less than 4 weeks to go
Just under 4 weeks to race day Folks and you are in a crucial period of your preparation so hopefully all is good and you're handling the training ok.
Its week 9 of the 12 week programme that some of you may be following from the WHM website. Others may also be on similar programmes so the common denominator is that your longest runs will be done this week and next.
Make sure you get them in as confidence in tackling the race 13.1 miles on Sunday 1st September will be boosted by getting these two weeks successfully completed.
And get company for the long--usually Sunday-- run. A few running buddies help the time pass and can help if the going gets tough along the way.
The final 2 weeks will see you drop down on the miles and time on your feet so you will be ready to go on race day. Adequate rest is key to getting to the Ebrington start line fresh and up for the challenge. Squeezing in last minute training miles is not a good idea! Hitting Ebrington on 1st September fresh, not jaded, is the objective!!
Something else as well, now is the time to check your race day gear--shoes, socks, vest, shorts.... if your shoes are beat, replace them immediately and break the new ones in by walking around in them for a few days before running in them.
Wear your favourite socks, vest and shorts and if you fancy new ones, get them now and break them in as well. Be Prepared!!!
