Into the home straight now with all the hard work done and the tapering down process kicks in as we hit week 11, the penultimate week of the training schedule many of you have been following.
Hope all is good, the long runs have been banked, the head is positive and the next eleven days or so can be enjoyed----shorter runs and more rest days!
The key is to arrive on race day ready to go, the body fresher from the reduced training volume and all set to accept the challenge of the race. Under no circumstances attempt to squeeze in extra mileage now, you have done enough already so be confident in your ability to get round in good order.
If you have had less time on your feet during preparation then just reduce your finish time expectations and all will be fine. There will always be another race and another day to get it right.
Have you sorted your race day running gear yet? Shoes, socks, race vest, hat if its sunny, shades? Did anyone say umbrella? Transport to the start? Remember to get there early, no last minute rushing around will ensure you are cool, calm and collected, no needless expended energy pre race.
The entry list is still growing and is getting close to the limit---2000 full distance and 100 relay teams. Are you on the list? Time is running out so sign up asap.
See you all on the start line...….Happy Running!
