Heritage Development Officer
This pilot project is a new dedicated area of work for the Council in partnership with Department for Communities - Historic Environment Division.

The Walled City, Derry
The role of the Heritage Development Officer is to:
- Help develop our heritage assets to support the economic, social and environmental regeneration of our City, Towns and Villages
- Celebrate and promote our built heritage and the wider Historic Environment to local residents and visitors
- Encourage best practice in the care of our heritage assets
- Value our heritage by encouraging community pride and participation in caring for our historic environment
The work of the Heritage Development Officer contributes to the delivery of cross-directorate heritage actions as outlined in Council and regional documents such as:
- Inclusive Strategic Growth Plan and Local Growth Plans (2017 – 2022)
- Local Development Plan
- DCSDC Tourism Strategy (2018-2025)
- Village Renewal Plans
- Annual Service Plans
- Treasure the Past: Enrich the Future (produced by Department for Communities on behalf of an alliance of heritage organisations – March 2018)
