Rural Business Grants
RURAL BUSINESS GRANTS OF UP TO £4,999
Capital grants up to a maximum of 50% grant rate are available to existing micro enterprises based in a rural area to support them to recover, sustain or grow through DAERA’s Tackling Rural Poverty and Social Isolation (TRPSI) Programme. The scheme is open for applications between 1 July 2021 and 12noon on 30 July 2021. Grant aid of between £500 - £4,999 is available for projects costing up to £20,000.
Businesses who previously received funding under the 2019-20 or 2020-21 TRPSI Rural Business Development Scheme are not eligible to apply to this programme.
What can I apply for?
Grant aid is available for a range of capital items to help your business recover, become sustainable or to grow and diversify. Eligible items include:
- Computer equipment and software
- E-commerce websites
- New equipment/ machinery
- Capital costs to facilitate health and safety changes to working practices due to COVID 19 restrictions.

Is my Business Based in a Rural Area?
Businesses must be based in a rural area within the Derry City and Strabane District Council. A rural area is defined as an area with a population of less than 5,000 residents. Culmore, Drumahoe, Nixons Corner, Coshquinn, Newbuidlings and Strathfoyle are defined as rural and are eligible for this programme.

Fully completed application forms with supporting documents must be submitted by 12noon on Friday 30 July 2021. Applications should be submitted via email to [email protected]. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
