Festive gifts food and fun at Strabane Market

17 November 2017

Next weekend Friday and Saturday, 24 and 25 November sees the final Strabane food and craft market of 2017, featuring an exciting showcase of quality artisan products from the local area.

The Strabane Market is a monthly market organised by Derry City and Strabane District Council taking place at the Courtyard of the Alley Theatre from 11am to 4pm over the weekend.

Among the many local crafters and producers showing their wares over the two days will be Kennedy Bacon, Party Perfects, Coffee N Cream, Bake N Joy, Crepe N Coffee, Simmering Salts, Doorish Arts & Crafts , Candy Crafts and Celtic Leather Art.

Following on from his recent performance at Britain’s Got Talent, Guinness World Record holder, Ryan Duff of Duff Balloons will be making a special appearance from 11 am to 4pm on the Friday with children’s characters in attendance from 2 to 4pm.

On the Saturday Santa will make a special appearance and kids can meet him in his Grotto from 11 am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 3.30pm while there will be children’s arts and crafts, children’s festive characters and face painting all afternoon to spread some Christmas cheer throughout the town in the run up to the festive season.

The market was set up earlier this year by Council following the success of the monthly Walled City Market in Derry. To date the Market has been a great success promoting local traders and working to identify new opportunities to boost business and the local economy.

Some of the traders from the Market will also be participating alongside local community organisations at the annual Strabane Christmas Fayre that takes place on Sunday 03 December on Castle Street and Castle Place from 1pm to 6pm.

Encouraging the public to come along and support the Market, Nicolle Walters Market Development Officer with Derry City and Strabane District Council said it’s a great way of supporting local businesses and sampling local produce and a unique way to snap up some Christmas gifts.
