16 November 2017
Be transported back to the 1980’s as Wireless Mystery Theatre brings Roald Dahl’s classic to the stage at the Alley Theatre in Strabane next Thursday 23rd November.
Roald Dahl's Tales of the Unexpected: twisted tales with a twist in the tail. Essential Sunday night viewing throughout the 80s, Wireless Mystery Theatre – Ireland's Masters of Suspense – bring the series life, live on stage. Expect guns, girls, and the unexpected!
Wireless Mystery Theatre specialises in retro stories of horror, thrills, and the strange. They have been commissioned by BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4, BBC NI, BBC Scotland, and RTE, and their work has been broadcast as far as Canada, the USA, and Germany.
Culture NI has described Wireless Mystery Theatre as ‘Superb’ whist Ulster Tatler says ‘A performance unlike anything you have ever seen before.”
Jacqueline Doherty, Venue Manager of the Alley Theatre, encouraging people to come along says: “‘Once you hear that opening song you will be instantly reminiscing. Wireless Mystery Theatre are brilliant- they produce plays for live performance as well as broadcast. Their production of A Christmas Carol with orchestral accompaniment was broadcast live to thousands of listeners and a live audience of 1000 in The Ulster Hall. To see one of their shows is a real joy. As with the TV show the performance will be based on short stories by Roald Dahl collected in the books Tales of the Unexpected, with sinister and wryly comedic undertones and of course expect a twist ending.”
Tickets are priced at £5 and are available from the Alley Theatre box office on 028 71 384444 or online www.alley-theatre.com
