Youth 19
Following the record breaking engagement with over 10,000 young people in 2016 as part of the #eyc19 campaign , Derry City and Strabane District Council and its partners gave a commitment to pursue a dedicated Youth19.
Youth19 is a year dedicated to young people aged 12-24. Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) will work with young people and partners to:
- Promote the voices, needs, priorities and rights of young people;
- Highlight the positive contributions young people make to our community;
- Supporting young people to take a leading role and Make.Change.Happen.
Youth19 will deliver a range of exciting opportunities for young people to get involved and Make.Change.Happen.
- Promote positive health and wellbeing;
- Actively promote the meaningful engagement and participation of young people;
- Develop skills and provide clear career pathways.
Support
Council will be investing £500,000 in young people during Youth19. In addition, Council are working with partners to access a range of additional funding streams such as PEACE IV and Big Lottery to support young people in the council area.
