THE CONNECTION VOUCHERS SCHEME IS NOW CLOSED TO NEW APPLICANTS.

LOCAL BUSINESSES REAPING REWARDS OF BROADBAND SCHEME

More than 230 small and medium (SMEs) businesses in Derry and Strabane have now benefitted from the Super Connected Cities Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme.

The scheme, which helps SMEs get connected to superfast broadband has been rolled out by Derry City and Strabane District Council in conjunction with the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

An additional £40m of funding has now been made available to SMEs within the UK and the vouchers will continue to be issued on a ‘first come, first served’ basis until all funds are snapped up. Funds have not been ring fenced for individual cities, and all eligible businesses are being encouraged to apply before the available funds are exhausted.

Business Opportunities Manager with Derry City and Strabane District Council, Louise Breslin explained.
“We have seen a fantastic responseto the Voucher Scheme, and we’re getting some extremely positive feedback from clients who have signed up. I know there is going to be huge demand for the additional funding, so I would really urge local companies to get their applications in as soon as possible.”

“The scheme allows businesses to apply for grants of up to £3,000 each to cover the costs of installing faster and better broadband. And it’s not just tech companies who are benefitting, the scheme has helped a huge variety of businesses to date, including cafes, graphic designers, architects, real estate agents, events coordinators and caterers.”
