2026 Age Friendly Calendar now available

9 December 2025

A new calendar aimed at supporting older citizens across the region is now available to order, just in time for Christmas.

The annual Age Friendly Calendar is circulated throughout the Western Health and Social Care Trust area, delivered through a collaborative initiative involving Derry City and Strabane District Council, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, the South West Age Partnership, the Western Health and Social Care Trust and the Public Health Agency.

The calendar is designed to support the wellbeing of older citizens by providing helpful information, uplifting messages, and this year’s edition features a number of photographs taken by three local residents, Caroline Doherty, Gemma Harkin and Pam Hardeman, celebrating the natural beauty and special memories of the region.

Mayor of Derry and Strabane, Councillor Ruairí McHugh, welcomed the launch of the new calendar, saying: “I am delighted to see the continued success of the Age Friendly Calendar, which has become a valued resource for many older people in our community. Not only does it provide practical information and support, but it also showcases the beauty and talent within our district through contributions from local residents.

“I would encourage individuals and community groups to avail of this free resource and help us continue promoting an age-friendly, inclusive region for all.”

Older people, families, carers, and community groups can request a copy from Council and calendars can be posted directly to individuals or delivered in bulk to community centres and organisations.
