Be part of Strabane's St Patrick's Day 20th Anniversary Parade

19 January 2026

Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Festivals and Events team have issued a call out to individuals, groups, schools, clubs, or businesses who are interested in taking part in this year’s St Patrick’s Day parade in Strabane.

2026 marks the 20th Anniversary of St Patrick's Day celebrations in the town that will see a magnificent festive parade float through the town leaving from Holy Cross College, Melmount Rd making its way via Bridge Street, Market Street and Abercorn Square then along Railway Road and finishes in Dock Street.

The St Patrick’s Day celebrations are one of the town’s biggest events of the year and the parade offers an opportunity for local organisations to showcase themselves in front of thousands of spectators.

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Ruairí McHugh, encouraged local groups to consider getting involved, particularly any who haven’t previously taken part.

"St Patrick’s Day in Strabane is truly wonderful celebration," said Mayor Ruairí McHugh. "The parade is full of colour, music, dance, and pageantry, and it’s a wonderful experience for everyone taking part—especially young people who get the chance to perform in front of thousands of spectators.

“Being part of the parade is not just fun, it’s an unforgettable experience that brings the whole community together."

"We’re making plans for the 2026 parade and would love your help to make it even more magical for this special year.

“Whether you can help with costumes, perform in a band or group, or work behind the scenes, your contribution will make this celebration shine."

Anyone interested in taking part in Strabane’s St Patrick’s Day celebration on Tuesday 17 March 2026 are asked to contact Ashleigh Devine at [email protected].
