Get creative this Autumn at Strabane Library

The Alley Theatre is inviting you to get creative this autumn and winter with a colourful programme of workshops for children, families and adults at Strabane Library.
Running from October through to December, the programme offers something for all ages and interests, from traditional crafts and upcycling to animation, ceramics, creative journaling, and festive making.
Whether trying a new skill or simply looking for an enjoyable way to spend time being creative, participants will have the opportunity to make something unique to take home.
The programme gets underway in October with a six-week embroidery course, where participants can learn a range of stitches and create their own personalised tote bag with artist Sinéad Crumlish.
Running from October 7th to November 18th, the Wednesday afternoon sessions cost £24 and are suitable for beginners and more experienced crafters alike.
Sinéad will also lead a four-week furniture upcycling workshop from 8–29 October, showing participants how to transform a small piece of furniture using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, stencilling, decoupage and basic upholstery. The course costs £25.
There are plenty of opportunities for younger creatives too. On 10 October, children can bring Lego to life in a fun Lego Animation Workshop, creating their own film using an iPad, sound effects and visual effects. Later in the month, Halloween takes centre stage with Spooktacular Halloween Science on 28 October, followed by a Monster Making Workshop on 29 October and a Spooky Light-Up Kite Workshop on Halloween itself, 31 October.
For those interested in traditional and tactile crafts, a Willow Woven Bowl workshop on 17 October introduces participants to the art of willow weaving, while November brings a Ceramic Cottage Workshop, where participants can learn hand-building techniques and create their own glazed ceramic piece.
Adults can also take some time to slow down and explore their creativity through a four-week Creative Journaling workshop with artist Bernie Wilson of ART FARM. Running from 3–24 November, the sessions combine writing, drawing, collage and mindful prompts, with all materials provided.
As Christmas approaches, the programme takes on a festive feel with Children’s Christmas Ceramic Painting on 28 November, an Adults’ Christmas Angel Workshop on 2 November, and a Glass Art Christmas Tree Decorations workshop with tutor Natasha Duddy on 10 December.
With a mix of creative experiences on offer, Strabane Library will be a welcoming space to learn new skills, meet others, and enjoy some creative time throughout the autumn and festive season.
