Have Your Say on Parking in Newtownstewart Town Centre
11 July 2025

Derry City and Strabane District Council is inviting residents, businesses, and stakeholders in Newtownstewart to take part in a public consultation event to help shape future parking arrangements in the town centre.
The drop-in event will take place at the Newtownstewart 2000 Centre on Thursday 24 July, from 4pm to 7pm, and is part of a wider parking study being carried out by the Council in partnership with transport consultants JNP Group.
JNP Group’s Transport Planning team has been appointed to undertake the study, which aims to develop a better understanding of current parking issues and identify potential improvements to support local access, business activity, and overall town centre vibrancy.
Members of the public attending the event will be invited to share their views and concerns. All feedback gathered at the consultation will be considered alongside data from a detailed parking survey to inform future recommendations and help shape a parking strategy that works for everyone in Newtownstewart Town Centre.
Encouraging members of the community to attend, Council’s Regeneration Manager, Tony Monaghan, said:
“This is an important opportunity for people who live, work or visit Newtownstewart to have their say. We want to hear first-hand what’s working, what’s not, and what people would like to see changed. This will ensure any recommendations reflect the needs of the community and support a thriving town centre.”
The consultation event is open to all and no pre-registration is required.
