Local groups celebrate small grant success

3 November 2025

Eleven local volunteer groups have been successfully awarded small grants to support inspirational community projects that will make a real difference across the district.

The Live Here Love Here grant awards recognise the creativity, dedication, and community spirit that make Derry and Strabane such a special place to live. From environmental clean-ups and biodiversity projects to initiatives that promote wellbeing and inclusion, each group plays a vital role in improving their local area.

A total of 108 groups received funding this year, supported by ten council partners, including Derry City and Strabane District Council, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE), and Belfast Harbour.

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Ruairí McHugh, congratulated the local recipients and praised their dedication to community improvement, saying: “I want to extend my sincere congratulations

to all of the groups in our city and district who have been successful in receiving a Small Grant through Live Here Love Here. Each of these projects shows what people can achieve by coming together to enhance their local environment, support one another, and build a brighter, more sustainable future.

“I commend everyone who applied for funding and those who continue to volunteer their time to make our communities cleaner, greener, and stronger. You are true community heroes, and we are immensely proud of your efforts.”
