Mayor Celebrates European Success of Young Rider Ben Walsh

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Grace Uí Niallais, hosted a special reception in the Guildhall this week to recognise the outstanding achievements of local equestrian star Ben Walsh following his success at the FEI Jumping European Championship for Young Riders 2026.

Joining Ben and his family, the Mayor praised his dedication, talent and commitment to the sport, highlighting the pride his accomplishments have brought to the local area. The reception provided an opportunity to acknowledge Ben's remarkable achievement on the European stage and wish him continued success in his promising equestrian career.

Congratulating Ben on his recent success, Mayor Uí Niallais said: “Ben’s achievement is a truly outstanding one, and it is a source of great pride for everyone across our city and district. To compete and succeed at such a high level is a testament to his talent and determination.
