Mayor delighted to host Kingfishr

The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Grace Uí Niallais, was delighted to host members of the critically acclaimed Irish indie-folk band, Kingfishr, to the Guildhall this week. The group dropped in for a civic reception ahead of their massive sell-out concert at Ebrington Square, where they performed to a packed crowd.

The group dropped in for a civic reception ahead of their massive sell-out concert at Ebrington Square, where they performed to a packed crowd.
Extending a warm official welcome to the band, Mayor Uí Niallais said: "It was absolute pleasure to welcome Kingfishr to the Guildhall ahead of their unforgettable show at Ebrington Square. We are thrilled they chose to include Derry on their tour. Sitting down with the band, I was so struck by how down-to-earth, friendly, and grounded they remain despite their rapidly growing international profile. On behalf of the entire city and district, I want to congratulate them on their incredible talent and wish them every success with their upcoming tour dates and ongoing musical journey."
The Mayor also paid tribute to the vital role played by local music promoter Thomas O’Kane in bringing the event together. She said: “I want to pay special tribute to Thomas O’Kane for his hard work and dedication. His commitment to bringing top-tier live acts to our city has given us another incredible high-profile event at Ebrington Square.”
Highlighting that the music doesn't stop here, the Mayor noted that a brilliant lineup of live events is set to take place at Ebrington Square over the coming days.
"The energy in the city right now is fantastic, and the music certainly doesn't stop here. We have a brilliant lineup of live events coming to Ebrington Square over the next few days, so I would encourage both locals and visitors to grab their tickets, come out, and support the remaining concerts this weekend including James Arthur, JLS and the Big 80’s Night, to experience Derry's vibrant live music scene."
